Working draft. It must be reviewed by a lawyer before launch. This is a translation of the Spanish original, which prevails if the two differ.
1. What the service does
StemStage splits a song into tracks (vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano and others) and builds notation or tablature and synced lyrics so you can practice. It is a study and practice tool.
2. The song you upload
By uploading a file you declare that you own the original song (for example, a purchased copy or a file of your own) and that you have the right to use it for this purpose. You are solely responsible for that declaration being true and for how you use the results. StemStage grants no rights over the recordings or the musical works.
3. What we keep and for how long
- The file you upload is not kept: it is deleted when processing finishes.
- The results (separated tracks, beats and automatically generated lyrics) are stored on the server together with an acoustic fingerprint of the song. If another person uploads the same song, those results are reused instead of processing it again.
- The shared copy we use to reuse results is deleted if nobody uses it for 90 days. This does not affect the tracks of your own projects, which are stored separately.
- The fingerprint does not identify who uploaded the song.
- Your library: your projects are kept until you delete them or close your account. On the free plan you can have up to 25 available projects at a time, and a project that has gone 90 days without being opened becomes locked; if you have more than 25, the ones with the oldest activity are locked. Locked does not mean deleted: we keep its tracks and they are reactivated when you move to Pro (those left out by the cap also when you delete another project). The Pro plan has no cap and no expiry while it is active.
- Audio only plays inside StemStage: the separated tracks and the mix cannot be downloaded. You can download the notation, tablature and MusicXML or MIDI files you generate.
4. Personal data
To create your account with Google we store your name, email and profile picture. To prevent abuse of the service (for example, creating many free accounts) we also store your IP address, an identifier saved in your browser and a browser fingerprint when you sign up. We use this data only to operate the account and prevent fraud, and we do not sell it. You can ask us to delete your account from the support page. The detail of what data we process, why and for how long is in the privacy policy.
5. Content removal
If you are a rights holder and believe a stored result infringes your rights, write to us from the support page naming the work: we remove it immediately.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use the service to distribute or publish the separated tracks of works that do not belong to you, or to get around the limits of each plan (for example, by creating additional accounts).
7. No warranties
Notation, tablature and lyrics are generated automatically and may contain errors. The service is provided "as is", with no guarantee of availability or accuracy.
8. Paid plan
The Pro plan is a subscription that renews itself until you cancel it. The terms for payment, cancellation and refunds are in the refund policy.
